Best Steaks for Grilling
When grilling, I like my steaks to be on the thicker side. It gives me a bit of a buffer to grill the steak to the right internal temperature while still being able to get a good char on both sides.
RIB-EYE STEAK
Rib-eye is my favorite cut of beef. It’s loaded with lots of marbling and has a nice tender texture. Rib-eyes are also super flavorful and great for grilling and searing.
FILET MIGNON
Filet mignon is a very lean cut which also lends to its milder flavor. While I prefer a cut with a bit more fat marbled within, filet mignon is ultra tender which makes it such a popular cut. Because it’s so low in fat, be careful to not overcook Filet Mignon.
STRIP STEAK
I personally love a grilled, marinated strip steak. Strip steak has a ton of flavor with a good amount of marbling. My go to summer marinade for strip steak has garlic, worcestershire sauce, a sweetener (honey or brown sugar), balsamic or soy, olive oil and citrus or acid.
HANGER STEAK
I love to butterfly, and marinate hanger steak and give it a quick kiss on a screaming hot grill. Hanger is my go to steak for rice bowls. It’s got nice fat marbling and, when cut against the grain, can be super tender.
T-BONE/PORTERHOUSE
T-bone steaks are the strip and the tenderloin in one. This cut is nice and fatty (in a good way) and bursting with flavor and good, chewy, meaty texture.
